Local report 2021 – A BRIEF REPORT ON HOUSE SWISSAIR
Children in the Swissair-family house: Girls 0, Boys 3
The year 2021 was full of challenges since the global pandemic impact to daily life continues, and a process of adaptation to the new context was necessary to ensure the adequate development and wellbeing of all family members. Children in the Swissair house and the SOS Mother kept the positive attitude and spirit through the entire year. And there were some significant progresses that Hellmwnn, Sergio, Samuel and Axel* achieved during the year:
Hellmwnn is a young man of 18 years old, he likes to listen to music, sing and dance in all the family activities that are carried out. One of Hellmwnn’s most significant achievements was graduating from the sixth grade of primary school in the especial education school he goes too, the school year was particularly challenging but with the support of the direct care caregiver throughout his educational process, obtaining good results. Hellmwnn is looking forward to start a piñata making course in 2022, which will help strengthen his life skills.
Sergio is a 16-year-old teenager who really likes to dance, listen to music and play all kinds of sports with his friends. With the accompaniment of the direct care caregiver, he notably improved his verbal communication, which facilitated his participation in a local baseball team called “Academia Guardabarranco”; His participation in various sports disciplines: baseball, soccer or basketball has definitely allowed him to have fun, but at the same time develop social skills and develop sports discipline, that are key for his adequate development. In the special education school, he managed to promote to the higher school level, and plans to continue his studies.
Axel is a 16-year-old teenager who likes to listen to music, draw, play video games and sports, both at home and with his friends. He is characterized by being proactive, he is eager to continue learning and developing life skills that will help him for his independent life, focusing on learning crafts, in the future he plans to be a mechanic or a constructor. During the year he participated in a local Taekwondo School named “Chon-Ji”.
Samuel, 10 years old, managed to finish the fifth grade of primary education, during this year the permanent accompaniment of a social educator continued and prepared him for a reunification process, and in December he was reintegrated with his family of origin, restoring his right to live with his family.
